Case description
Narciso is a community journalist and human rights defender. He has received threats for his journalism and for creating spaces in which local actors and communities can raise awareness of the problems they face in the department of Chiquimula. As a result of this work, he has been subjected to constant threats, attempts at censorship by the authorities, acts of intimidation against him and his family, and surveillance. Because of all this, the Ministry of the Interior has provided him with perimeter security measures.
Due to the risk he faces, he had to temporarily pause his work as a journalist. He is now taking it up again. Because of this situation, PBI began accompanying him in February 2026.
